Golden Mylk

Niamh Browne April 23, 2019

This is a lovely warming drink full of spices like cinnamon, turmeric, ginger and black pepper. It originates from Ayurvedic traditions where its is said to be tri-doshic meaning it is suitable for all three doshas- pitta, vata & kapha. I tend to lean heavily towards vata which can leave me feeling airy and ungrounded. Adding lots of warming spices & eating lots of warm soups, stews and curries is what keeps me balance is also what my body craves intuitively. There is lots of websites online to find out your own dosha by answering a short quiz, go check them out if youโ€™re interested to learn more.

Recipe

  • 250ml milk or plant based mylk (I used oat)

  • 1 tsp turmeric powder

  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger

  • Pinch of ground black pepper

  • 1 tsp honey or maple syrup/stevia

  • 1 tsp coconut oil

Method

  1. Add all of the ingredients to a small saucepan and heat gently. Whisking constantly to break up any powder clumps. Continue heating until warm and coconut oil has melted and mixed through.

  2. You can use an aerolatte milk frother at this point if you like also if you like it frothy and bubbly. Pour into a cup and serve.
